 Salary: $65,000 – $91,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

About Us

The Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District is a public agency dedicated to delivering reliable water resources across Southeastern Colorado. We’re currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Accountant to perform a variety of accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, fixed asset management, and financial reporting. The role involves preparing financial statements, water and storage billing, and assisting with budget and audit processes. This position also conducts detailed reconciliations and financial analyses.


What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and process accounts payable/receivable payments
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain accounting records.
  • Reconcile general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and determine depreciation.
  • Prepare monthly/annual financial reports and schedules.
  • Support the annual budget process and expense projections.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit.
  • Analyze revenue, expenditures, and fund conditions.
  • Provide support for water and tax revenue forecasting and capitalized interest calculations.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible financial experience preferred.
  • Experience in public agency or enterprise fund accounting is preferred.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and computer systems is highly desirable.

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
  • Local travel to project sites as needed (company vehicle provided)
