Substantial water demand reductions can be realized through changing water use behaviors by water utility customers, which in some cases include the utility itself and its end use of water. Water is used for both indoor and outdoor purposes, for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional uses. Substantial work has been completed by previous investigators regarding this topic, and for this reason, this section of the BMP Tool Box will rely heavily on recent published document prepared by Colorado WaterWise in conjunction with a grant from the Colorado Water Conservation Board. The specific document, Guidebook of Best Practices for Municipal Water Conservation in Colorado is copyrighted © 2010 by Colorado WaterWise (1st edition published in August 2010). This BMP Tool Box therefore presents those portions of the Guidebook of Best Practices that align with the Tool Box BMPs noting this Copyright and Disclaimer notice.
